Abstract
Solid acid catalyst SO42-/Fe2O3 was selected as catalyst to hydrolyze cellulose. Propionic acid of different concentration was used to pretreat cellulose. Besides, effects on hydrolyzation rate of cellulose were investigated with single-factor method including mass ratio (the mass ratio of catalyst and cellulose), propionic acid concentration, reaction temperature and reaction time. It was shown that at temperature of 120℃, m(catalyst) ∶ m(cellulose) of 2.5 ∶ 1, propionic acid concentration of 100g/L and reaction time of 1h the total sugar content was 51.77%, which was 6.41% more than that with no pretreatment process.
