A study on allelopathy of winter regrowth from ten varieties of Medicago sativa

Abstract
The allelopathy of ten varieties of winter regrowth Medicago sativa was tested in culture plate and sand culture bioassays.Aqueous extracts of stems and leaves from ten varieties of Medicago sativa apparently accelerated seed germination,growth of seedlings and roots of the radish assay plants.It indicated that there was an allelopathy effect from these ten varieties of Medicago sativa to radish.At the same concentration,allelopathy differed between the ten varieties.The extract concentrates from the varieties Alize,Alegro,Sitel and Sanditi showed a greater allelopathic effect than those from the other varieties of Medicago sativa.
