The temporal and spatial variation of urbanization levels of counties in Hohhot-Baotou-Erdos-Yulin economic zone

To study the temporal and spatial variation of the urbanization level within Hohhot-Baotou-Erdos-Yulin Economic Zone,this essay takes the county as unit to set up the comprehensive evaluation index system of urbanization about twenty indicators from four kinds of population,economic,social and spatial urbanization by collecting the data of 2001,2005 and 2009 and using principal component analysis,spatial autocorrelation analysis and GIS visualization methods.The results show that: Firstly,the temporal changes characteristics of the level of urbanization in the Hohhot-Baotou-Erdos-Yulin economic zone is overall basically stable,but local significant variability about county regional differences in the level of urbanization.There is a significant difference of the level of urbanization in the Hohhot-Baotou-Erdos-Yulin economic zone.The level of urbanization of municipality's urban district is relatively higher in the Hohhot-Baotou-Erdos,and the level of other counties(banners,district) is relatively low.Secondly,the spatial changes characteristics of the level of urbanization in the Hohhot-Baotou-Erdos-Yulin economic zone is regional urbanization levels are generally low,and the overall score lower than 0 of counties(banners,district) accounted for more than 60%.Thirdly,the municipality's urban district in the Hohhot-Baotou-Erdos has formed the three centers of regional urbanization levels.The regional urbanization levels have the characteristics of the low value of concentration and the high value of dispersed.Fourthly,Baotou City and Hohhot City is the urbanization of hot spot area;Yulin City is the urbanization of blind spot area;Yuyang District is the urbanization of bulge area;Baiyunebo District and Shiguai District are the urbanization of recessed area.
