Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expressions of β catenin and E cadherin and their clinical significance in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder. Methods: Immunohistochemistry method was employed to investigate the expressions of β catenin and E cadherin in 65 cases of transitional cell carcinoma of bladder. We analyzed the relation between the expressions and the prognosis. Results: The normal expression rate of E cadherin decreased with the increased pathological grades and clinical stages (P0.05). There is no relation between the expression rate of β catenin and the pathological grades (P0.05). However, significant relationship existed between the expression of β catenin and the clinical stage (P0.01). Patients with abnormal expressions of β catenin and E cadherin had poor prognosis. Conclusion: The abnormal expressions of β catenin and E cadherin in transitional cell carcinoma of bladder suggest poor prognosis.
