The Problems and Countermeasures in the Utilization of Wetland Resources in Chongqing

This paper analyses the classification and characters of wetland resources in Chongqing .It also explores the problems of the utilization of wetland resources and puts forward some countermeasures.At present,the wetland area of Chongqing is 1 402.16×10 3hm 2,accounting for 17% of total land area of Chongqing,among which there are 1 222.53×10 3hm 2 of artificial wetlands and 179.63×10 3hm 2 of natural wetlands,accounting for 87.19% and 12.81% of the total wetland area respectively.The wetland distibutes widely but not equally in Chongqing and has abundant biodiversity.The present exploitation of wetland resources is not reasonable.The area of natural wetland gradually decreases;the ecological function of wetlands declines;the pollution in wetland is severe;the biodiversity of wetland reduces.In order to protect and exploit rationally the wetland resources in Chongqing,some countermeasures are put forward,such as investigating,sorting and appraising the present situation of wetland resources,and carrying out utilization programming.Preventing wetland pollution,establishing protection network,setting up managemant mechanism,and strengthening lawmaking,publicity and education on wetland resources.
