On Subject Consciousness in Study of Image Thinking

Image thinking has been the main thinking mode in Chinese tradition, which is different from the concept thinking mode originated in the West. Since the Eastward transmission of Western sciences, China has entirely accepted western science and culture, including the thinking modes behind them. Over the century, the thinking mode of Chinese people has been westernized, and modern scholars have been using western thinking modes when doing research on ancient China's science and culture. Due to the total difference between Chinese thinking mode and the western one, the application of the western thinking mode may seriously misunderstand China's traditional culture. Therefore, it is the premise for correct understanding of Chinese tradition to realize the conscious rid of the influence of western thinking mode in the methodology: stopping using concept thinking, and adopting image thinking.
