Regulative Effect of Yiqi Huoxue Recipe on the Expression of TGF-β_1 in Rats with Radiation-induced Lung Injury

Abstract

Objective:To observe regulative effect of Yiqi Huoxue Recipe on the expression of TGF-β1 for serum and lung in rats with radiation-induced lung injury in different radiation time,and discuss the preventative measures and curative effect of Yiqi Huoxue Recipe.Methods:96 Wistar rats were randomly divided intoirradiation with Yiqi Huoxue Recipe-treated group(group A n=30),irradiation with ambroxol-treated group(group B n=30),irradiation group(group C n=30)and normal control group(group D n=6).The first three groups were irradiated by 6-MV accelerator linear at right hemithorax with a dose of 30 Gy/6Fraction/5 weeks.Group A was given 1 mL of Houxue recipe and group B was given 50 mg/kg of ambroxol per day.6 rats in group A,B and C were put to death at the end of the 4th,6th,8th,12nd and 26th week after the irradiation and the rats in group D were put to death,then ELISA and immunohistochemistry were used to assayed the levels of TGF-β1 in the collected serum and lungs.Results:TGF-β1 level in serum and lung of rats in group C showed an increase from the 4th week after the radiation,peaking in the 12th week,and descending in the 26th week.In group A and B,the levels of TGF-β1 were significantly lower from the 4th week than that of the irradiation group(P0.05).The levels of TGF-β1 in group A and B were similar(P0.05).Conclusion:Yiqi Huoxue Recipe can inhibit the excretion of TGF-β1,and might play an important role in reducing early radioactive reactions and later radioactive pulmonary fibrosis in patients with radiation-induced lung injury.
