Jianpiyangyin Decoction in treatment of elderly patients with chronic constipation

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy of Traditional Chinese Medicine Jianpiyangyin Decoction in treatment of elderly patients with chronic constipation. Methods 61 elderly patients with chronic constipation were randomly assigned to 2groups: 30 patients took Chinese medicine Jianpiyangyin Decoction( trial group),31 patients took Chinese patent medicine Maren capsules( control group),all patients also received general treatment. Results The cure rates were 93. 3%,90. 3%for trial group,control group respectively. The recurrence rates were 39. 3%,67. 9% for trail group,control group( P 0.05). Conclusion Jianpiyangyin Decoction is effective in treatment of elderly patients with chronic constipation with low recurrence rate,and better effect in improving defecation exertion and dry mouth symptoms.
