Abstract
WEN Yi-duo's initiation of new poetic meters' and his criticism of new poems are very striking in the establishment of the artistic form and aesthe tical principles of modern poems. Exploring the essence, the writing of this pap er finds that WEN Yi-duo's literary theory and creation are not the hybrid of C hinese and western art. In fact, traditional Chinese culture is the kernel of hi s conception of poems. His advocacy of “three kinds beauty”is the development of traditional poetics in aesthetics and can be regarded as the establishment of the aesthetical conceptions of modern poetry. His criticism of new poems, his n egation of some poets and their works, and his initiation of poetic creation und er the guidance of “the times”and “nationality”all embody the development an d renewal of the conception of poems in traditional Chinese culture in the new a ge.
