Abstract

The germination, seedling growth and antioxidant enzymes of two ornamental plants was studied under Arsenic stress. The results showed that As3 +improved seed germination of two ornamental plants at low concentration and inhibited seed germination at high concentration. As3 +inhibited growth of the root and the bud with the concentration increase. Activities of CAT and SOD were increased at low concentrations but inhibited when concentration of As3 +increased. POD was stimulated by the raise of Arsenic concentrations. It could be concluded that POD plays an important role in the tolerance to arsenic stress among the three antioxidant enzymes.
