Abstract

In order to efficiently reduce the airflow resistance in a closed cooling duct of an armored vehicle, the numerical simulation is accomplished by means of computational fluid dynamics.A simulation model of the cooling air duct is built in GT-Suite,and the 3D model is dispersed with the help of GT-Cool module. The influence of the height changes of the fan volute is studied on the main design parameters of the cooling air duct. The results show that the airflow resistance becomes too big when the height of the volute is less than 257 millimeter. The average velocity of the airflow at the inlet section of the low temperature radiator increases after redesigning the structure of the fan volute.
