Abstract

In order to study the effect of phosphorus(P) application on growth of Zea mexicana and soil fertility in acid red soils, serious acidification quaternary red soils were used for soil culture, which had been applyed urea for twenty years in southern China, and lime was used as pH regulator in this experiment. Results showed that, under the same lime level P application increased the height, tillers and biomass of Zea mexicana, promoted the mass fraction of available P and water-soluble Mg of soils. Both increasing amplitude was positive correlation with P application, and the higher soil pH,the higher increasing amplitude, but had not significant effect on Al saturation and pH of soils.Under the same P level, lime applied increased tillers of plants, the available P and pH of soils, and decreased Al saturation of soils, but had not significant effect on water-soluble Mg of soils.
