Abstract

Objective To summarize the clinical experience of laparoscopic cholecystectomy(LC). Methods A retrospective analysis was made on clinical data of 98 cases with acute cholecystitis treated by LC from July 2001 to June 2006. Results Laparoscopic cholecystomy was completed in 93 cases and a conversion to open surgery was required in 5 cases, major cause of the conversion included the failure to ex- pose the calot's triangle(2 cases),arterial hemorrhage(1 cases),stone of cystic duc(t2 case). Conclusion LC is safe and effective for acute cholecystitis as long as that timing of surgery are properly selected, operative procedure are strictly followed.
