Abstract
The imperial examination system of China came to an end because it intensified the feudal autocratic system,enslaved and confined intellectuals,restrained the academic innovation,and hindered the development of natural science and the progress of society.On the other hand,this system exerted a significant and profound influence upon Chinese history and culture and played a positive role in the ruling of country,academic development and people's education.The ancient Chinese culture which was advanced in Asia and throughout the world and later backward should be attributive to the influence of the imperial examination system.
