Abstract

Both Chinese and English nations have a long history and splendid cultures and a large number of idioms have accumulated in both languages.Due to the geographical environment,history,cultures,religions and social customs,idioms from the two languages have different cultural connotations.The purpose of idiom translation is the migration of cultural connotations and cultural exchange.Differences in cultures are just the greatest difficulty of the migration of cultural connotations.So translators should explore its origins,semantic connotation,pragmatic value,and focus on the accuracy of the migration of cultural connotations.According to the specific circumstances,translators should use appropriate translation methods to achieve the desired objective of cultural exchange of idioms translation.
