Human settlement environmental problems and countermeasures in the northwest region of Yunnan Province

To explore the main problems of the northwest region of Yunnan Province, and to bring forward strategic planning countermeasures. Methods analyze and assess the eco environmental status of the northwest region of Yunnan Province by integrating qualitative analysis method and quantitative assessment method. The main environmental problems of this region are: (1) urban environmental quality is deteriorating and the trend is disconcerting; (2) eco environmental crisis is getting more and more serious; (3) the efforts made on environmental protection is far from requirement. The protection of eco environment and bio diversity and culture diversity of the northwest region of Yunnan Province may greatly affect the social and economical development and eco environmental protection of its lower reaches areas. To solve these problems, mass work should be done, such as enhancing peoples' environmental consciousness, improving on environmental management, increasing environmental protection investment, etc.
