Abstract

The castor oil modified fluorine containing water repellent agent was prepared using castor oil and 2,2,2-trifluoro ethanol as materials. The structure of synthetic product was characterized by Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy. The indicators of contact angle, time of disappearance of water, whiteness and breaking strength were also measured. The optimum finishing conditions were determined as follows: doubledip-double-nip(the concentration of modified castor oil was 40 g/L)→predrying(100 ℃,40 min)→curing(170 ℃,3 min). The results showed that after finishing with the modified castor oil,the cotton fabric got favorable wa-ter repellency ability(contact angle could reach 122.0°,time of disappearance of water was 2 108.0 s) while the whiteness and breaking strength reduced a little.
