Abstract

The aim of the study was to explore the species diversity of land snails in warm-temperate zone in Xiaolongmen forest areas. An additional aim was to acquire quantitative data that could be used to assess the impact of soil temperature and moisture content in soil in different months, from April. in 1993 to January in 1994, on land snail diversity. The work was undertaken in Xiaolongmen forest areas, Beijing, China. We used a stratified quantitative sampling scheme according to the layer of litter and soil depth. A total 105 sites were studied. Among the layer of litter, land snails were collected within a 0.5×0.5-m plot. At the same time, species were stratified from the soil by sampling implement with 100ml. Diversity analysis and multiple correlation analysis were carried out using Excel and SPSS11.0 software. The species diversity of land snails was under a low level to some extent, especially durign some months. Both the soil temperature and moisture content in soil did not show a marked correlation with the land snails diversity.in this study, which needs further work to confirm
