Abstract

Strong reciprocity is a willing to sacrifice resources for rewarding fair and punishing unfair behavior even this is costly and provides neither present nor future material rewards for the reciprocator. As an interdisciplinary research, strong reciprocity theory provides a new perspective for people to interpret and understand cooperative behavior. Researchers are focusing on questions such as the definition of strong reciprocity, causes of strong reciprocity and the influencing factors, evolution models of strong reciprocity, development and application of strong reciprocity theory. Providing more realistic evidences for strong reciprocity theory, finding out the motivation mechanism of strong reciprocity and rethinking about human nature hypothesis in the context of strong reciprocity should be given more attention.
