Abstract
Based on water sampling and data analysis with GIS,the paper discussed the organic pollutants contennt in river water body and their spatial charactersistics in Dongguan City. The result showed that NH4+-N and TP of river water at diffferent levels were all seriously polluted due to rapid economic development, large quantity of wastewater discharge and lagage of sewage pipe network construction, etc. The lower reaches of the main stream and the low level tributary of the canal water were particularly polluted. The former is mainly due to wastewater discharge of the upper reaches,as well as the impact of river silt. While the latter were not only directly affected by the industrial and agricultural and domestic sewage, but also by the backward treatment facilities of the townships.
