Abstract
Influence of grinding depth on the microstructure and hardness of grinding hardened layer for 42CrMo steel was studied.The results show that martensite is inhomogeneous under different grinding depths,and the microhardness on the surface layer is increased firstly and then is decreased with the grinding depth increasing.The microhardness of the complete hardened layer is 720-800 HV0.1 which raises more than two times.Compared with the substrate,the minimum thickness of hardened layer is also increased with the grinding depth increasing.The hardening depth is up to 1.8 mm when the grinding depth is 0.6 mm.
