Abstract

Objective:To investigate the curative effect and safety assessment of glucocorticoid in treating liver failure patients. Methods:One hundred and thirty eight liver failure patients were randomly divided into treatment group and control group, both groups were treated with comprehensive and etiological treatment.Particular treatment had been given to patients whose causes of disease were clear, and patients in treatment group were given prednisone orally at the early stage of treating process.During the treatment, observe clinic situation and effective rate of patients, changes in alanine aminotransferase(ALT),prothrombin time activity(PTA),blood cell count and subsided time of total bilirubin(TBil). Results:In both groups, the ALT,TBil,PTA in serum had apparently improved compared with the baseline after the medication from the 1st,4th,8th,and 12th week, significant difference exist(P0.01).The improvement of all the indexes from treatment group were much better than that of in the control group after the medication of 4th,8th,and 12th week, significant difference exist(P0.01).The effective rate of treatment group was 79.2%,much higher than that of in the control group, which was 51.5%(P0.05).The time of gastrointestinal symptoms improvement and bilirubin subsided time in treatment group was significantly shorter than that of in the control group.During the treatment, there was no significant adverse reaction, and there were no difference between both groups in infection and gastrointestinal bleeding. What′s more, the incidence of hepatic encephalopathy and hepatorenal syndrome in treatment group was greatly lower than that of in the control group(P0.05).Conclusion:Using glucocorticoid to liver patients at the early stage can greatly improve the efficiency of survival rate, shorten hospitalization period, reduce side effects and enhance security.
