Poverty Indicating the Absence of Liberty

Ber lin's major contributions to the political philosophy are the divisions between negative liberty and positive liberty.As a representative for analytical Marxism,the divergences between Cohen and Berlin focus on the relationship of liberty and equality.Cohen used the way of analytical philosophy to refute the reasoning of liberalism,criticized the viewpoints of negative liberty which rely on a kind of fetishism.Cohen discovered an illusion: the essence of capitalist society is a society with liberty,one without any major constraints to liberty.Cohen believed that poverty means the absence of liberty itself,not only the absence of the means of liberty.In the course of criticizing Berlin,Cohen put forward a kind of Marxist opinion that moves from the liberty to equality,from the liberty being the idea to obtaining the liberty equally.
