Abstract
[Objective]The purpose of this research was to study biological characteristics, degradation characteristics and the optimization of fermentation conditions of DDT degradation bacterium.[Method] A bacterium strain DH-7 having capability of degrading DDT was isolated from the DDT contaminated soil of a chemical factory. The characteristics of DH-7 were studied.[Result]Based on the phenotype, physiological and biochemical characteristics, and the phylogenetic analysis of 16S rDNA sequence, the strain DH-7 was identified preliminarily as Pseudomonas aeruginosa. This strain could degrade DDT with degradation efficiency of 73.6% in 10 days. The degradation efficiency was up to 81.4% after the conditions of culture was optimized.[Conclusion]This study will provide the references for bioremediation of contaminated soil by DDT.
