The Organizational Structure of Yunnan Province in the Yuan Dynasty and its Appointment of Officials

Yunnan Administrative Province was established in the early period of the Yuan dynasty,and it was the first to become fairly stable.It was fairly particular in its organizational structure and appointment of the officials.Yunnan Province was relatively the same as other nine provinces of China in many aspects: integration with the institutions of one government office with many officials and the control of the senior officials;the outstanding status of the senior and assistant officials;the importance of the dependent officials(including Zuoyousi,Xuanshi,Duzhenfusi and so on);a combination of both Chinese and Mongolian characteristics.However,Yunnan Province was also different from other provinces in many aspects,because Mongolian and Semu officials occupied most positions in the local government,and the powerful Liang Prince and the Duan Family exerted much influence on the local officials and the organizational structure in the late period.
