Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the value of serum inhibin B levels in azoospermia. Methods:Serum inhibin B is measured by a solid quantitative sandwich enzyme immunoassay technique(Sandwich ELISA),serum FSH is measured by ehemieluminescene immunoassay technique.Results:28 patients with nonobstruetive azoospermia have significantly lower levels of serum inhibin B(P0.05) and signicantly higher levels of FSH than controls(P0.01).Levels of serum inhibin B in 20 patients with obstructive azoospermia are signicantly higher than in 28 patients with nonobstructive azoospermia(P0.01),while levels of serum FSH in 20 patients with obstructive azoospermia are signieantly lower than in 28 patients with nonobstructive azoospermia(P0.01).Conclusion:Serum inhibin B levels could reflect testisspemato genesis status,it seems to be a prediction of presence of testicular spermatozoa in patients with nonobstructive azoospermia.
