Abstract
The transverse motion of particle enhances the heat and mass transfer of material in the rotary kiln, and it is important for the optimal design and practical use of the equipment. Based on mathematical model, this paper experimentally investigated the transverse motion of selected particles in the cylinder by using of video camera. The influences of cylinder diameter, rotating speed and dynamic angle of repose of the bed material on the thickness of cascading layer, velocity, mass flow rate as well as the residence time on the bed surface were studied, and the mathematical model was verified by results from the experiment.
