Abstract
To explore the expression of multidrug resistance gene 1(MDR1) and its clinical significance in primary breast cancer. The expressions of MDR1 gene in 47 cases with breast cancer and 15 cases of normal controls (mastofibroma, 5 cases; adjacent breast tissues, 10 cases) were measured by fluoregenic probe quantitative RT-PCR method. The positive rate of MDR1 gene in breast cancer group was 46.8%. The expression of MDR1 was not related to age, tumor size, lymph node involvement, estrogen receptor and progesterone receptor status and menopause. Whereas, no positive case was found in control group. [Conclusion] The expression of MDR1 gene in breast cancer maybe serve as an indicator for drug resistance in chemotherapy.
