Measuring the harmonic current and power factor of nonlinear load

Abstract

Two methods are used to analyze harmonic current of typical signal-phase nonlinear load,the waveform of load current is presented with a cosine pulse function formula,the real power is gotten by integral operation,then the virtual values of 10 odd harmonic components of the current are measured with harmonic wave analyzer,the total distortion rate of harmonic wave of the load current is calculated.The results show that the generalized power factor of load is the product of displacement power factor and distortion power factor.The difference between traditional power factor and the generalized power factor is pointed out,and the influence of harmonic wave distortion rate on generalized power factor is discussed.
