Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the resistance mechanism of imipenem-resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa (isolated) in Shaoxing. METHODS To amplify IMP, VIM and oprD_2 genes from genome DNA of P. aeruginosa ((5 imipenem)-resistant strains, 4 imipenem-susceptible strains) by PCR and then sequenced. RESULTS The VIM genes were detected in 5 imipenem-resistant strains which belonged to VIM-2 type. No IMP was found in these 5 strains and there were oprD_2 genes. CONCLUSIONS The P. aeruginosa resistance to imipenem (isolated in Shaoxing) is explained by a VIM-2 gene.
