Abstract

Based on the number of tourists and total income from tourism in six main cities in the Yellow River Delta in Shandong Province from 2006 to 2011,this paper makes an empirical study of the core-periphery space structure of the 6 cities and expounds the spatial evolution of these six cities in the primacy distribution and the rank-regression model distribution methods. The results show that the tourism spatial structure is balanced development in general and the distribution of the primacy city is obvious, and its development condition is good.Dongying and Binzhou are the first-rank core cities in the edge area in the Yellow River Delta region. The diffusion effect of the core city is very significant. The city of Laizhou in Yantai,Shouguang,Hanting and Changyi in Weifang have formed second-rank core cities.Leling and Qingyun in Dezhou, and gaoqing in Zibo belong to the third-rank core cites. The paper attempts to explore the evolution of tourism spatial structure about core and periphery cities in quantitative analysis method and tries to reveal its formation reason. At the same time,it tries to expand the theory application in the geography tourism and provide reference for similar spatial structure of tourist city. Finally this paper suggests a joint development of the tourism spatial structure in this area, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of regional tourism.
