The WTO rules , especially The Agriculture Protocol, have profound impact on Chinese Agriculture. Opportunities resulting from the access to the WTO means the direct entry of domestic agricultural products to the global market, the change over from extensive to intensive management in domestic agriculture, the introduction of the new agricultural technology, and the solution to the embeddes structural problems.Meanwhile there also exists the threat known as a dualedge sword with the access to the WTO: That is, the dual challenge of the more competitive domestic produce market and the weak competitiveness of domestic produce in global market leads to a restrictes space for the sustainability of traditional agriculture. In the face of the opportunities and challenges, China needs to raise the competitiveness of form produce in the global market and to ensure the sustainable development of agriculture through the execution of the policy of green case under the WTO rules, strengthen domestic support for agriculture, speed up the shift of agricultural practice from traditional to modern, encourage technical transformation of agriculture and optimize the allocation of agricultural resources with a view to enhancing competitive edge in both domestic and gobal market.
