Abstract

The No.1 tunnel of some main canal in Xinjiang belongs to the shallow buried water-conveyance tunnel through sand and gravel extreme soft rock, the construction scheme of setting oblique branch tunnel to increase the two work surfaces is adopted for the tunnel. There are many troubles in the construction of the oblique branch tunnel, such as the area limit, surrounding rock with shallow buried, high permeability and bad cementation of the sand and gravel layer, and so on. The appropriate process and method are found out gradually through the multistep adjustment and improvement for the construction scheme, which could obtain the better results in the aspects of the construction progress and the investment.
