Abstract

【Objective】To investigate the role of Color Doppler Flow Imaging(CDFI) of renal blood flow parameters in the diagnosis and clinical evaluation of renal transplant rejection.【Methods】Sixty renal transplant cases were tested 193 times and 40 healthy subjects were studied by CDFI.Items observed implied renal size、thickness of renal cortex in 2-D images.Renal artery(RA) and renal blood flow(RBF) were observed in CDFI.【Results】No rejection group(84 cases): The 2-D images were similar to those of the normal group.Their transplanted kidneys were rich in blood.RBF appeared with full of branches. The renal size and RBF were the same as the normal group (P0.05).In the acute rejection group(38 cases): Kidneys became obviously larger. The renal cortex became thicker and the renal pyramide(py) dilated.Marginal blood vessels in renal cortex were lesser. The blood velocity was decreased only at the diastolic phase.Pulsation index(PI) and resistance index(RI) were higher than those of the normal(P0.01).In the chronic rejection group(71 cases): Kidneys revealed no enlargement, the renal cortex thickened a little with hyperechoic appearance.RBFS were not perfused sufficiently.Blood velocities decreased both at systole and diastole at different degrees.PI and RI were sufficiently different to the normal(P0.01).【Conclusion】CDFI is valuable for rejection diagnosis and classification of transplanted kidneys.
