The Regional Features of Liancheng Taoist Music——The Relationship between Liancheng Taoist Music and Tianshi Taoist Music of Longhu Mountain

Abstract

Through a comparative study on the similarities between the formal features as well as extra words and sentences of Liancheng Taoist and those of hakka folk songs,this paper makes a probe into the relationship between Liancheng Taoist ceremonial music and hakka folk songs and reveals that Liancheng Taoist music is closely related with folk songs,which is the common features of all Taoist music.Furthermore,based on the comparison between the ceremonial patterns and contents of Liancheng Taoist music and those of Tianshi Taoist of Longhu Mountain and then through the comparison on typical melodies between chanting of Longhu Mountain Taoist scriptures in Shangqing tune and chanting of Liancheng Taoist scriptures,this paper also intends to indicate Liancheng Taoist ceremonies and its ceremonial music are originated in Tianshi Taoism of Longhu Mountain.
