Abstract

Two kinds of iron-based coagulant-Fe(NO3)3·9H2O and FeSO4·7H2O are used to remove COD and colourity from direct-scarlet-dye-containing wastewater on laboratory scale. The results showed both of the coagulants were efficient in decolorization, especially Fe(NO3)3·9H2O,with its decolorization rate above 86%.Their capabilities of removing COD were also tested under different conditions with respect to dosage and pH value. It has been showed that pH 8 was the best for Fe(NO3)3·9H2O in decolorization, while within pH range of 6~8 decolorization rate of FeSO4·7H2O could be above 80%,and the peak rate reached 83.2% at pH 8.
