"The Two-Part Allegorical Saying" and "the Hiding Words"——A Complement to Mr.Shi Yunsun's The New Explanations To The Sentence Patterns

Based on Mr.Shi Yunsun's The New Explanations To The Sentence Patterns on Rhetoric Study(Vol.5,2003),the present paper makes some complementary discussions to his idea of two-part allegorical sentence.According to the structure of two-part allegorical saying,this figure of speech is analyzed as the enigmatic folk simile,the abbreviated Chinese idiom and old saying,and the indefinite eclipsis.In this paper,the first type should be classified as two-part allegorical saying,whereas the last two should be hiding words.
