Abstract

Reproductive toxic effects of atrazine on female Macrobrachium nipponense were studied to provide evidence for the water quality management of aquaculture.Semi-lethal mass concentrations of atrazine to M.nipponense at 24,48,72 and 96 h were calculated by probability mapping. The changes of ovarian tissue structure in each exposure group were observed.Ovarian lactate dehydrogenase(LDH) specific activity at the atrazine exposure of 4 days and 8 days was detected by stress experiment. The results showed that the semi-lethal mass concentration of atrazine to M.nipponense at 24,48,72 and 96 h at 22 ℃ were 134.23,90.24,52.57 and 46.36 mg/L,respectively,and the safe mass concentration was 4.64 mg/L.The ovarian sections in acute toxicity test showed that the intercellular space of oocytes increased and the cell bodies enlarged and deformed with the increase of the mass concentration of atrazine. The stress experiment demonstrated that atrazine at a low mass concentration increased ovarian LDH specific activity in a short time. However, atrazine at the mass concentration above 0.46 mg/L inhibited the ovarian LDH specific activity obviously. The study indicated that atrazine had the reproductive toxic effects on female M.nipponense.
