Abstract
Objective To study the effect of the expression of matrix matalloproteinase-2,9(MMP-2,MMP-9) and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1,2(TIMP-1,TIMP-2) on the invasion and metastasis of tumor in human papillary thyroid carcinoma(PTC).Methods MMP-2,MMP-9,TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 expressions were examined by S-P immunohistochemial method in 65 case of PTC.Results The expression rates of MMP-2,MMP-9,TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 were 76.9%,87.7%,76.9%,and 61.5% respectively.The expression of MMP-2 and MMP-9 were positively correlated to the lymph node metastasis and invasion of tumor(P0.01,P0.05).The expression of TIMP-1 was negatively correlated to the metastasis and invasion(P0.05).The expression of TIMP-2 was negatively correlated to the metastasis(P0.05) and not correlated to the invasion.There was negative correlation between the expression of MMP-9 and TIPM-1(P0.01).Conclusion The expressions of MMP-2,MMP-9,TIMP-1 and TIMP-2 are significantly correlated with the Invasion and metastasis of PTC.They may serve as indicators for determining the metastasis in PTC.
