Abstract

OBJECTIVE To study the diagnostic valuation of procalcitonin(PCT) and C-reactive protein(CRP) tests in general surgery′s infections.METHODS By immunoturbidimetry, the levels of PCT and CRP in the serum of 736 patients in general surgery were measured.RESULTS The PCT and CRP levels of infected group were(14.45±6.6) μg/L and(36.2±8.3) mg/L respectively, and those of normal group were(2.14±1.9) μg/L and(29.7±8.6) mg/L respectively. There were no statistical significance in the levels of PCT and CRP in both infected and normal group.Nevertheless, both of the results were higher than reference value.Absolutely, the level of PCT was higher in the infected group than that in the normal group, presenting significant difference(P0.01).CONCLUSION Joint detection of PCT and CRP that is really helpful for surgeons′ diagnose of infection of incisional wound in general surgery as soon as possible.Simultaneously, using antibiotics reasonably also shows clinical significance.
