Abstract
Objective: To observe the characteristic of ultrasound in gastrointestinal perforation and explore the appropriate value of ultrasound used in diagnosing gastrointestinal perforation. Methods: The ultrasound performers of 63 cases in our hospital from July 2007 to January 2011 which were diagnosed by surgical operation as gastrointestinal perforation were retrospective analyzed. Results: Direct signs of gastrointestinal perforation were observed in 54 cases(85.7%),in which there were 49 cases showed free gas [77.7%(49/63)],37 cases showed the site of perforation [58.7%(37/63)].Free gas below the diaphragm was found in 52 cases by X-ray [82.5%(52/63)].Conclusion: Ultrasound shows the direct signs of perforation in gastrointestinal perforation and its sensitivity is higher than X-ray.Ultrasound examination of gastrointestinal tract should be a routine preferred method for gastrointestinal perforation.
