Abstract
During Wei and Jin Dynasties, poetry creation gradually flourished and became an independent literary form.So there was a self-consciousness of poetic character in literary theory. The critical terms, such as 'poetry aspiring to beauty','affection-oriented' and 'sensuous intricateness' analyzing the character of poetic writing and appreciation, became more complicated and thorough and liberated the poetry from the moral and ethical restrictions by Confucius from Qin to Han dynasty. Thus, there formed two different views in Chinese poetic history: poetry for politics and education, and poetry for expressing one's mind and affection. And 'affection-oriented' and 'sensuous intricateness' are the self-awareness of poetry's character in Wei and Jin Dynasties.
