Abstract

Objective: To investigate the application and limitation of CT virtual endoscope in the diagnosis of middle ear diseases.Method:95 cases with 108 ears were selected to underline CT scan and reconstruction of images. Results:26 cases had two-ear diseases;102 ears in 95 cases had otitis mastoidea,15 cases with malformation of ossicular chain,69 with cholesteatoma,21 with bone-ulcer type otitis mastoidea,3 with middle ear invasion of cancer of external auditory canal. Conclusion:CTVE and other post-managements could clearly show the shape, size and their internection of ossicles chain, hammer and stapes. It is valuable to diagnose the cholesteatoma and otitis media by CTVE,which has opened a new way for the examination of middle ear diseases and the preparation of imaging materials before operation.
