Analysis of Land Use Change in the Main Urban Areas of Chengdu City

A systematic analysis is made of land use change in the main urban areas of Chengdu in the period of 2000to 2010 applying RS and GIS techniques.The results show that:(1)The conversion of land use types is mainly between urban green land,crop land and construction land.41.47% of the total area of the urban green land in 2000has been turned into construction land,which increased an area of 6 850hm2;31.01% of the total area of crop land in 2000has been turned into construction land,increasing an area of 5 323hm2.(2)The rate of land use change has speeded up dramatically,with the dynamic degree index of comprehensive land use amounting to 2.74%.As for the land use dynamic degree of single land use class,the maximum rate of change is transportation land,of which the annual change rate is 13.45%.While the annual change rate of construction land and crop land is respectively 9.68%and-5.10%.(3)The land use degree of the main urban areas takes on an increasing trend,the overall change value being 0.134.The rate of transportation land and construction land change played a decisive role in the expansion of the main urban areas.With the rapid economic development and the speeding up of urbanization process,land use intensity of the main urban areas will be further enhanced.
