Abstract

Based on the relationship between convective mass transfer intensity and internal fields in the fluid and applied external fields, the three mechanisms for enhancing convective mass transfer, which are decreasing the concentration boundary layer thickness, increasing the interruption in the fluids and increasing the velocity gradient near a mass transfer wall, is clarified. This results show that the essence of enhancing convective mass transfer is the synergy between different fields in the fluid. Further the control methods of filed synergy for the enhancement of convective mass transfer are discussed, which can guides us to developing new approaches to designing convective mass transfer units.
