Abstract

In this paper, the adsorption effect of crude bentonite and pillared bentonite to phosphorus in the eutrophic water was studied in different conditions such as the amounts of bentonite, shaking time, the concentration of phosphorus, the granularity of mineral and the pH of solution. The properties of crude bentonite and pillared bentonite were determined with XRD.And the abilities in treating phosphorus of crude bentonite and pillared bentonite had been compared in this study. The results showed that the adsorption of bentonite surface to phosphorus was a rapid process, the maximal quantity of adsorption appeared in ten minutes. The adsorption effect to phosphorus was increased with the increase of the amounts of bentonite. The adsorption effect was affected by the concentration of phosphorus. When the pH value of solution was from 4 to 10,the adsorption effect of pillared bentonite to phosphorus was well.In this study, the adsorption effect of pillared bentonite to phosphorus was better than crude bentonite.
