Abstract
Objective:To review CT imaging features of basal cell tumor in parotid gland and explore its diagnostic value. Methods:The clinical materials and image findings of 9 cases of parotid basal cell tumor which proved by pathology were retrospectively studied.Results:9 patients suffered from solitary tumor locating in the superficial lobe on the capsule of the gland.7 tumors appeared as round and 2 tumors appeared as lobulated, all cases less than 3 cm in diameter and with smooth contours.4 cases showed cystic areas in the center. At arterial phase, the tumors showed a strong enhancement. At venous phase, the tumors showed a pattern of persistent strong enhancement, the increase of CT values were similar to the arterial phase. Conclusion:The qualitative diagnosis of the parotid basal cell adenoma could be made based on the CT findings combined with some valuable clinical information before operation.
