Abstract
Objective To investigate the value of serum C-reactive protein(CRP)combined with white blood cell count(WBC)in the diagnosis of pneumonia in children.Methods 116 cases of children with pneumonia were divided into two groups according to the diagnosis results:bacterial infection group(62 cases),viral infection group(54 cases).Over the same period 80 healthy children were selected as the healthy control group,levels of serum CRP,WBC of each group were tested and compared.Results Levels of serum CRP,WBC in bacterial infection group were significantly higher than that of the virus infection and the healthy control group(P0.01).Compared with healthy control group,the levels of serum CRP,WBC in virus infection group had no significant difference(P0.05).The levels of serum CRP,WBC and CRP+WBC three detection positive rate were significantly higher than that of the virus infection(P0.01).Conclusion The combined detection of serum CRP,WBC has a higher specificity to pathogen identification and diagnosis of pneumonia,which improves diagnostic accuracy of bacterial pneumonia and early detection rate.
