Abstract
Yu Shinan's poems are characterized by eradicating excessive extravagance and having rich metaphors and irony.While depicting objects,the poems also express sublime aspirations.His poems are also rich in eulogizing deeds of safeguading the frontiers and sacrificing for the country.His poems clearly show the poets at that time made worthwhile attempts to break away from the constrainst of the previous tradition and inspired later poets' interest in frontier subject.Following him were many poets in the Tang Dynasty.It can be said that he did initiated the poetic style of the Tang Dynasty in the poetic development.
