The Birth of Aesthetics of zhen: Modern Chinese Poetics in the 20th Century

The aesthetics of zhen is believed as the core of Wang Guo-wei's theory of jing ne (yi jing, spiritual realm). As to writers, it is the real presentation of true feeling of qing (emotion) and jing (views). As to works, it is the genuine expression of the true views and the true feelings. This is the key to the understanding of his theory of jing jie (yi jing) and to the discovery of the connection point of his assimilation of the Chinese and the Western culture. Because of this, we can reflect upon and examine the modern Chinese poetics in the 20th century from the viewpoint of modernity.
